``If you want to succeed you should strike out on new paths, rather than travel the worn paths of accepted success.''
(John Davison Rockefeller Sr)
Authors who wish to publish an open-access book (or book chapter) must follow a straightforward process:
Before submitting the book for evaluation, authors must ensure that the book is free of errors. It is the authors' responsibility to verify the accuracy and integrity of the book prior to submission.
All submitted books go through single-blind peer review (the reviewer knows the author's identity, but not vice versa). Each book is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers.
When submitting a book to Rockefeller Publishing Co., authors tacitly consent to their work being shared with editors and external reviewers for the purpose of evaluation. The book, along with any additional information provided, will be treated as confidential and used solely for the purpose of evaluation.
Submit your book (or book chapter) in your preferred format. We understand that a free format makes the publication process faster and easier.
If your book (or book chapter) is accepted for publication, our Editorial Team will work with you to adapt your text to the company's publishing style.
We strongly suggest authors use TeX/LaTeX to prepare the text of their book (or book chapter).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Editorial Team; see the contact page for further details.
After submitting your manuscript to external reviewers, our Editorial Team will be in communication with them to expedite the review process. In general, you can expect to receive the Editorial Team's decision within 30 days. As reviewers are volunteers, the review may take longer than anticipated.
Along with the decision, a member of the editorial office will send you a notification letter, which may contain suggestions for improving the text of your manuscript.
If the notification letter informs a rejection, it should clearly outline the reasons for this decision. Authors are encouraged to carefully revise the book's content, addressing the feedback provided, and resubmit the revised text for a new round of reviews.
Upon publication approval, you will be asked to sign a publishing consent agreement (click here, PDF file). This agreement guarantees that your manuscript will be published as open access and made freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Under this license, anyone is allowed to utilize the content of your manuscript, including for commercial purposes.
The authors bear full responsibility for the transparency, originality, integrity, and validity of their book's content, including any sections generated by AI tools. Consequently, they are accountable for any breaches of publication ethics or violations that may arise from the use of these tools. Please follow the COPE ethical guidelines when writing your manuscript.
We understand that using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, DeepSeek, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, etc.) can benefit the quality of writing, especially for less-experienced or non-native English writers. However, using generative AI comes with a risk of violating ethics.
To ensure compliance with ethical standards, we recommend that authors use generative AI or other AI-assisted technologies only to improve the manuscript's grammar, readability, and language quality of their manuscripts.
Do not use generative AI to create ``new text.'' Pieces of text created by generative AI give rise to the interpretation that generative AI became an author or co-author of the manuscript; however, authorship implies liability that can only be attributed to humans.
When using generative AI, you should carefully review and edit the result. Note that generative AI can create hallucinations or wrong information. The ultimate responsibility and accountability for the manuscript relies solely on the authors.
If you decide to use generative AI for a reason other than polishing the text for grammar, readability, and language, then disclose what you did through a statement in the book, preferably at end of the chapter that contains AI-generated text.
Rockefeller Publishing Co. asks reviewers and editors to not use generative AI when reviewing submitted books and monographs. Generative AI tools can ingest any given text to train their models, potentially compromising the confidentiality of the peer-review process.
We are actively learning about the implications of using generative AI in publications and may revise this policy shortly.
